Happy Pancake Day!

We feasted on these beauties for dinner -- Rachel's delicious buckwheat pancakes. We also enjoyed a platterful of my personal favorites -- Bill Granger's ricotta hotcakes. We ate and ate and ate and ate . . . Jams, applesauce, lavender honey, and the requisite maple syrup graced these delicious disks as we feasted to the tunes of Al Hirt and his famous Dixieland flair.

As Gary forked the last pancake onto his plate I recalled Pooh Bear's sage advice:

When having a smackerel of something with a friend,
Don't eat so much
That you get stuck
In the doorway trying to get out.

I would have done well to remember that before eating SIX pancakes!

Hope you enjoyed your Mardis Gras or Shrove Tuesday or Carnivale or Shrovetide or FAT TUESDAY.

Mine was definitely FAT TUESDAY!

Hi baby. I'm from a big family as you know. Food was important. Pancakes VERY important!!! We used to slam um down. The more the better!! Teenagers now worry about weight, I used to eat 10 pancakes and not worry about a thing!!! I wanted so much to be able to eat more and out eat my sister!!! I LOVE PANCAKES!!!! And I love this post. If you're a teenager and play sports, I don't think pancake calories really matter.

Love you so much darling. You always make me smile. And yes, I always turn on the speakers.

XO

I am glad my friend had some wonderful looking pancakes prepared by a precious daughter! I will write more later. Am on my way back to work.

Pancakes are what we had for dinner last night as well. My five year old son, who normally can eat more pancakes than anyone, wasn't feeling well and hardly ate, so that was a little disappointing.

Oh Debbie, I loved reading your previous post about Andrew and Katie. How real. How warm and sweet. What they are experiencing this day we cannot imagine but some day we will join them. I want to spend time "doing nothing" communing with Jesus at tea time. How else to love Him more? He has been so sweet to me. Thank you for sharing.
